What to expect from sessions with me

Hi, I’m Abigail (she/her). For me, the heart of effective therapy lies in the relationship we build together. When this relationship feels grounded in safety, honesty and authenticity, real change can begin to unfold. From here, we can approach your needs with greater curiosity and kindness, easing the pressure of inner-criticism or stuckness.

People often find me very easy to talk to. I bring great warmth, openness, and a sense of collaboration to our work — I will not be a blank slate, and although I won’t offer you advice, I believe there’s space for helpful questions, reflections and even humour in our sessions. My role is to be alongside you, ensuring our time together offers genuine support and enrichment to your life.

I pay close attention to the ways social structures, culture, and inequality affect experience; I aim to create a space where we can explore difference and power, and how these dynamics influence your life.

I also offer creative methods and playful tools if this feels useful to you. These approaches can help access deeper parts of the process when talking alone doesn’t feel sufficient.

About me as a therapist

I have a breadth of experience supporting clients struggling with anxiety, depression, issues relating to low self-esteem, attachment difficulties, and the impact of trauma on their lives. As an integrative therapist, my approach draws from a range of elements across different schools of psychotherapy and this allows me to adapt sessions to meet the needs of each individual client. Every therapeutic journey is unique, and I work collaboratively to find how best to help my clients gain a deeper understanding of themselves and create the beneficial changes they seek.

I specialise in working with those navigating bereavement or facing grief of any kind. I also have particular experience working with members of the LGBTQIA+ community, including those in alternative relationship structures such as ethical non-monogamy, polyamory and queer families. In addition, I am kink-allied and have experience supporting clients around diverse sexuality and sexual difficulties.

I hold an Advanced Diploma in Integrative Psychodynamic Counselling. This training draws from theories that focus on unconscious processes and early life experiences, person-centred approaches to the client and relationship, somatic experiencing, psychoeducation, and some creative methods. I am registered with the BACP (British Association of Counsellors and Psychotherapists) and work according to their ethical framework. Alongside my private practice, I bring 15 years’ experience working in supportive and relationship-based roles across education, mental health, and community settings.
