Ana Flores Reis – Integrative Therapist
About me
Hi, I’m Ana and I’m an integrative therapist with experience working with trauma and abuse. My background is in the charity sector, working with survivors of domestic and/or sexual abuse of all genders.
My clients to-date have varied in age and come from diverse backgrounds. I have supported them through trauma, loss and grief, anxiety and depression, anger, shame, suicidality and self-harm, disordered eating and body image issues, and relationship difficulties including issues around sex, sexuality and intimacy.
My approach
My therapeutic style is empathic, relational and non-judgmental. I see you as the expert in your own life, and will work alongside you by providing support, honesty, compassion and understanding to help you make sense of your experiences and move forward in an authentic way.
My approach integrates person-centred and psychodynamic ideas, but as an integrative counsellor I draw on different models to tailor our work to your needs. I often include elements of Internal Family Systems (IFS) and Trauma-Informed Stabilisation Treatment (TIST) in my work with clients, which can support exploring different parts of yourself and building safety and stability when processing difficult experiences. In sessions, we may explore your thoughts, feelings, experiences and relationships — including how your past shapes your present — in order to help you gain insight and discover more fulfilling ways of relating to yourself and others.
As a relational therapist, I believe the way we connect with others and ourselves is central to understanding and overcoming the challenges you may face.
Couple therapy
Alongside individual work, I also offer couples therapy. Couples therapy provides a space for both partners to explore their relationship with honesty and curiosity, supported by a neutral and compassionate presence. In my work with couples, I am particularly interested in how past experiences and trauma can show up in your relationship, shaping how you connect, communicate, and respond to one another. Together, we can explore recurring patterns, rebuild trust, and develop tools to express your needs and emotions in ways that feel safe and constructive.
Some of the areas I can support couples with include:
- Communication difficulties and cycles of conflict;
- Rebuilding emotional closeness and intimacy;
- Navigating the impact of trauma, pasta experience, attachment patterns and life stressors on the relationship;
- Coping with life transitions such as parenthood or loss;
- Understanding and working with different attachment styles.
My aim is not to take sides or decide the future of your relationship, but to help you both understand each other more deeply, break unhelpful cycles, and make the choices that feel right for you as a couple. My role is to support you in:
- Understanding the patterns that play out between you;
- Expressing your needs and emotions safely and honestly;
- Learning to hear and respond to each other with greater empathy;
- Creating space to make decisions about your relationship from a place of clarity rather than fear or reactivity.
Together, we can look at how past experiences and attachment patterns influence how you connect, communicate and respond to one another, while finding new ways to rebuild trust, closeness and understanding.
My practice
As a member of the BACP my practice is governed by our ethical framework, ensuring that I am always working to promote your wellbeing with respect for your dignity as a human being at the forefront of my mind.
My practice is inclusive and collaborative, and I welcome clients from a range of backgrounds and identities. I strive to practice in a culturally sensitive way, respecting your unique background, beliefs and values, and making space to explore how your intersecting identities may have shaped your experiences.
