About me

Hi, I am Barbara. I am BACP-registered, integrative psychodynamic counsellor, which means I draw on different therapeutic approaches to suit your needs and preferred ways of working.

I offer a warm, thoughtful, and non-judgmental space where you can feel safe bringing parts of yourself that you may usually keep hidden. My goal is to help you connect more fully with your authentic self, fostering a sense of acceptance, compassion, and resilience.

In our work together, I act as a collaborative mirror, helping you view your experiences from new perspectives and shed light on long-standing challenges. My goal is to help you navigate your internal world with greater clarity. Whether you feel trapped in old patterns or simply overwhelmed by life right now, we will work to rediscover your sense of balance.

My approach

At the core of my work is the therapeutic relationship. I believe that many struggles stem from original relationships that were abusive, deficient, or overprotective; therefore, I aim to create a reparative relationship characterized by empathy, compassion, and co-operation.

I integrate few different frameworks to support your healing journey:
Psychodynamic Exploration: I help you bring limiting unconscious beliefs into conscious awareness by identifying recurring patterns from your childhood and past experiences.

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy: I use CBT to help you challenge negative thought processes and internal narratives, providing practical tools to manage anxiety, panic attacks and inner critic.

Somatic Awareness: For those who find it difficult to put feelings into words, I use body scans and somatic dialogue to help you connect with and give a voice to unprocessed emotions held within the body.

Couples therapy

I support couples to communicate their wants and needs more clearly and to find greater relational balance, working on conflict resolution and restoring intimacy. We explore emotional triggers; habitual roles people take to protect themselves and develop practical ways to replace negative cycles with healthier patterns.

Getting started

I work in person with Space to Be you In Hackney, every Wednesday or Online via Zoom. Sessions are weekly at the same time and last 50 minutes.

I offer short- term therapy for a set number of sessions or open-ended depending on what you feel you may need.

We can start with 20-minute initial phone/zoom call where we can discuss what might be bringing you to counselling and you can ask any questions you may have.
