About me

My name is Jason and I am an Integrative counsellor and psychotherapist offering short and long term counselling in-person and online. I work with individuals, couples and groups.

I am an accredited member of the National Counselling and Psychotherapy Society and an accredited member of the International Association of Psychology and Counselling (UK).

How I work

I am a humanistic, attachment-based therapist. Often, we become aware of difficulties in our lives through our relationships. You might find yourself frequently arguing with an intimate partner, feeling disconnected from colleagues, struggling in social situations, or people-pleasing at your own expense. These patterns are often rooted in our earliest relationships.

One relationship that is frequently overlooked is the one we have with ourself. When life becomes overwhelming, through difficult circumstances, busy schedules or competing demands, we can start to feel stuck, disconnected, or hopeless. These feelings are often described as anxiety, depression, a lack of meaning or mid-life crises.

Therapy offers a space to reconnect with who you are, or to discover that more fully. This involves engaging with yourself at a deeper level and nurturing your creativity. In sessions, this might include working with images, exploring dreams and fantasies, or using meditation and guided imagery to realise unconscious parts of yourself.

I work with anyone who is interested in understanding themselves better. I also have some areas in which I specialise:

Couples and relationship counselling

Conflict is the primary reason couples seek help. Conflict is natural in any relationship but sometimes it can feel like differences are so entrenched you question whether you can stay together. Alternatively you feel you know each other so well life together has become boring or you’ve lost the spark you once had. In relationship therapy it is important that both partners are heard, and that you hear each other, however difficult this can be. Once you feel more able to listen to each other we focus on getting you back in touch, improving communication, rebuilding trust and rediscovering the joy of being together. Sometimes couples have already decided to separate and come to therapy to do so intelligently. Relationship therapy is not only for those in romantic relationships.

Hyper-sexual behaviour & porn addiction

Has sex become a problem rather than a joy for you? Has using porn gone from an occasional enjoyment to problematic behaviour? Are you seeing sex workers more than you ever wanted to? The type of behaviour does not define a compulsion. The essential difference between the addict and the non-addict is that these behaviours feel out of control. An addict may spend an inordinate amount of time planning, engaging in and recovering from their chosen sexual activity. In spite of the physical, emotional, relational, financial and even judicial cost of these activities, they feel unable to stop, or at least unable to stay stopped. In a nutshell the solution is to recognise your processes, understand your triggers and ultimately to rediscover true intimacy.
