About Me

My name is Michaella Sandor-Eroglu. I am a registered and practicing expressive arts psychotherapist (ADMP UK) with a Masters in Dance Movement Psychotherapy (DMP) from Goldsmith’s, University of London (2014), and a UKCP trainee member working towards accreditation. I see private clients in person and online at Space To Be You, Hackney E8.

In my previous career as a dance artist with over 20 years’ experience, I have always been fascinated by the relationship between movement and the psyche. The deeper I explored it, the more I saw that movement is an instrument of communication, a language that reflects the emotional state: the two are deeply correlated and affected by one another.

My approach

I work holistically with psychodynamic, humanistic, integrative and somatic approaches. I work through spoken words and non-verbally through mindfulness, play, movement and other creative explorations, promoting self-development, self-awareness and self-harmony.

What I offer

As an expressive arts psychotherapist I work somatically, exploring the relationship between the inner psyche, the conscious mind and the body. Reality can often bring these elements into disharmony and imbalance. I will work with you to restore balance and harmony.

Right from birth and throughout life, our personal story is being embellished deep within our mind and body. A somatic approach, centered on the relationship between client and therapist, can support a real process to help unfold our personal and perhaps most intimate story. Expressive arts are a way to express and validate emotions as they emerge in the therapeutic relationship.

Wherever possible, we will focus on the spoken word, and then find meaning through creative explorations as they emerge to open the path for a deep and meaningful process of reflection and insight.
Everyone needs space to express themselves and their feelings in an accepting and non-judgmental environment. As a private practitioner I offer a safe and supportive space to explore and work with the verbal and the non-verbal communication which is brought into the therapeutic process.

My experience

I have worked with a range of client groups such as:

– Adults (a wide experience of working with women), at different levels on a wide spectrum of mental health conditions (mainly psychosis, self-harm, depression, anxiety, borderline personality disorder, bipolar disorder, schizophrenia)
– Women who are dual-diagnosed alcohol abuse and mental health
– People in the third age living with dementia
– Children and adolescent with multiple and profound learning disabilities, ASD, ADHD and mainstream
– Children and adolescent experiencing domestic violence and trauma
– Children and adolescent experiencing separation anxiety
– Adolescent presenting issues of self-harm and suicidal thoughts
– Transition and age transitioning
– Eating disorders

I accept clients of any background who feel they would benefit from the unique advantages of Expressive Arts Psychotherapy.

Is Expressive Arts Psychotherapy right for you?

You do not need to have previous experience in any form of art. If you are open to explore your feelings through words and creative explorations then this approach can be a pathway for a therapeutic process to take place in your life’s journey.

We can work on any specific issues you may have, reflecting and working through them in a safe and containing space. Many clients find that this form of psychotherapy helps them to unblock and even resolve issues when words are not enough or feel too much.
