“Contrary to what we may have been taught to think, unnecessary and unchosen suffering wounds us but need not scar us for life. It does mark us. What we allow the mark of our suffering to become is in our own hands.” – bell hooks
Hello! My name is Gemma (she/her) and I’m a relational integrative therapist working with individual adults. I am based at Space To Be You Therapy Rooms in Hackney, London E8.
I work with a number of diverse issues, such as anxiety, depression, relationship issues, stress, loneliness and loss. I believe we all deserve an opportunity to be fully listened to and understood by someone who can non-judgmentally help to make sense of our thoughts, feelings, behaviour and experiences. I am convinced that with this assistance we have capacity to heal, transform and grow, even from the toughest life experiences.
At the heart of my practice is the conviction that we heal through relationships, and specifically through the relationship we will develop with one another. My approach is collaborative, respectful and down to earth and my aim is to provide a supportive, creative and confidential space where we can explore who you are in the context of your distinctive personal world, and the issues that bring you to therapy. I am interested in how our lives – our relationships, self-image and self-beliefs – are shaped by our past experiences and our cultures. I will help you to make the changes that you hope for, by re-connecting you with your feelings, your deepest needs and your desires.
I work either on an open-ended basis or for an agreed amount of time. I am a fully supervised member of BACP and abide by their code of professional ethics. I am also a member of The Relational School (TRS).
If you want to know more, please get in touch at [email protected] to ask any questions or to arrange a free 20-minute phone consultation. I aim to respond to your query within 48 hours. After that we can meet to see whether we might like to work together.
Sessions last 50 minutes and cost £65 per session. Some concessionary rates may be available for those on a low income.
